SimpleStudy launched in 2023 and showed that some old-school StudyTok formats can still do well among Gen Z students.
They run three main formats:
Format #1 - Faceless Study
It is the same approach used by the Gizmo app we looked at earlier.
The videos show the study process on screen without ever naming the app.
Format #2 - slide
A faceless 4×4 multi‑slide style, similar to Peetch.
Format #3 - headshot
It is a twist on Brainly's format, the one we discussed earlier, but this version shows up after the exam.
Earlier results were modest, but this update pushed one video to a 12.6% ER.
The hooks aren't identical, but they all land on the same familiar StudyTok trigger:
- “Shakespeare was NOT thinking about all of this.2
- “Do you study for hours, but don’t seem to remember anything?”
- “my biology grades.”
- “Secrets for studying subjects that nobody will teach you”.
