A new app that turns push-ups into a fighting game has already found its winning strategy.
PUPG (Push Up Playground) turns workouts into a game: do push-ups to deal damage, beat bosses, and complete quests.
Launched just two months ago, the app has already reached the top 100 in Health & Fitness across six countries.
Most of its growth is coming from one TikTok account (@pupg7061) using a simple, highly visual format: someone does push-ups while the app shows damage counters, bosses, and XP in real time.
The account has generated 2.2M views since its first upload on February 23.
The best-performing video hit nearly 1M views and 9K+ saves with the hook:
“The orc really said do 35 or die” (March 9)
It works because it requires zero explanation: Viewers instantly understand the idea: push-ups equal progress. That makes it easy to share across languages.
PUPG is a clean example of how to take inspiration from a trending niche, like push-up screen time blockers, then add a twist with gamified content and a native content format.
