The company was founded by Ari Shohat, who created the project in 1999 while studying Computer Science at Binghamton University.
It started as a single online trance station and slowly grew into the DI.FM platform we know today, becoming one of the biggest electronic music radio networks in the world.
Although the app has existed since 2010, the company only decided to invest in TikTok in 2025, launching a network of seven accounts.
