First launched in 2005, Reddit is approaching its 20th anniversary but remains relevant in the social media landscape.

In fact, only four other social media platforms receive a larger share of visits than Reddit in the US.

Following its March 2024 IPO, we’ll dive into Reddit user statistics and data below.

How Many Reddit Users Are There?

As of 2025, there are over 500 million Reddit accounts.

That’s an increase of over 150 million since 2019.

By 2028, there are expected to be over 556 million Reddit users.

In the US, Reddit is most commonly used by 18 to 29-year-olds. Almost half (44%) of this section of the population uses Reddit.

Analysis of over 5,000 Redditors found that a user’s average age is 23 years old.

And just 12.75% of the sample were over the age of 30.

The age skew of Reddit users is at odds with the wider demographic transition in the US, where the population is getting steadily older.

Globally, we can further break down Reddit users by age. 25 to 34-year-olds make up 23.09% of users worldwide.

This figure is even higher for users who have been on Reddit for 5+ years (35 minutes per day) and 7+ years (45 minutes per day).
