Roblox is an immensely popular online games platform.

The most recent quarterly results showed over 111 million daily active users (DAUs).

"Roblox" growth chart
“Roblox” searches are up by 957% in the last 10 years.

And the market responded well to the latest earnings call. Roblox stocks have continued to climb throughout 2025, going from less than $60 per share in January to over $130 in October.

I’ve taken a deep dive into the history, user stats, demographics, and stock performance of the Roblox platform.

Key Roblox Stats

  • Roblox has 111.8 million daily active users
  • Users played Roblox for 27.4 billion hours in Q2 2025
  • 80% of Roblox users play on a mobile device
  • Brookhaven RP is the most-played experience on Roblox, generating 69.13 billion visits
  • Roblox generated revenue of $1.08 billion in Q2 2025
  • 23.4 million users make purchases on Roblox every month, with an average spend of $20.48
  • Roblox community developers have earned more than $1 billion in the last year

What is Roblox?

Roblox is not strictly a game in itself but rather a massive platform of user-created games and “experiences”.

For example, “Brookhaven RP” is a popular role-playing experience on the Roblox platform. It has received more than 73 billion total visits.

"Brookhaven" growth chart
“Brookhaven” searches are up by 75% in the last 5 years.

Its creator, Wolfpaq, is an individual member of the Roblox community. He joined in May 2014, launching Brookhaven in April 2020.

Any member is free to develop their own games in the Roblox Studio, as well as browse the vast catalog of user-created games.

Roblox currently has 6.7 million active experiences and 3.1 million developers.

When Was Roblox Made?

Roblox first came out on September 1, 2006. That means it’s actually older than Minecraft by almost 3 years.

Roblox was publicly launched on September 1, 2006

The platform was also live for around two years before its release. An initial version of Roblox was made in 2004, with a limited number of playtesters signing up ahead of the main launch.

Up until 2008, Roblox added some of its own games to the platform to help showcase its capabilities. Since then, all new content has been entirely user-generated.

How Many People Play Roblox?

As of Q2 2025, Roblox has 111.8 million daily active users (DAUs).

That places Roblox well above Minecraft, which has an estimated 15 million DAUs. It’s also ahead of Fortnite, which has approximately 1.5 million DAUs.

Here’s how the number of Roblox daily players has changed over time:

Quarter Roblox DAUs
Q4 2018 13.7 million
Q1 2019 15.8 million
Q2 2019 17.1 million
Q3 2019 18.4 million
Q4 2019 19.1 million
Q1 2020 23.6 million
Q2 2020 33.4 million
Q3 2020 36.2 million
Q4 2020 37.1 million
Q1 2021 42.1 million
Q2 2021 43.2 million
Q3 2021 47.3 million
Q4 2021 49.5 million
Q1 2022 54.1 million
Q2 2022 52.2 million
Q3 2022 58.8 million
Q4 2022 58.8 million
Q1 2023 66.1 million
Q2 2023 65.5 million
Q3 2023 70.2 million
Q4 2023 71.5 million
Q1 2024 77.7 million
Q2 2024 79.5 million
Q3 2024 88.9 million
Q4 2024 85.3 million
Q1 2025 97.8 million
Q2 2025 111.8 million

The latest quarterly results revealed a significant leap in users, increasing 41% year-over-year and more than 14% quarter-over-quarter.

The Roblox game Grow a Garden, launched in March 2025, set a world record in Q2 for the highest number of concurrent users to play a video game. Almost 22 million users were playing at the same time at one point in July.

Since the quarterly report was released, Steal a Brainrot has gone on to achieve even bigger success. In October, it became the first game to hit 25 million concurrent users.

Meanwhile, across the entire Roblox platform, an all-time high of over 32 million concurrent users was also recorded in Q2.

How Many Hours Are Spent on Roblox?

Roblox doesn’t just have a lot of users — it has engaged users.

In Q2 2025 alone, Roblox users spent 27.4 billion hours on the platform.

Roblox users spent 27.4 billion hours on the platform in Q2 2025

That’s around 245 hours per quarter for every daily user, or a little under 82 hours per month.

In other words, each daily Roblox user spends approximately 2.7 hours per day playing the game.

The number of hours spent playing Roblox has increased massively in the past few years, increasing young people’s screen time. Here’s a selection of quarterly playtime milestones:

  • Q2 2019: 3 billion+ hours
  • Q1 2020: 4 billion+ hours
  • Q2 2020: 8 billion+ hours
  • Q3 2021: 10 billion+ hours
  • Q3 2022: 13 billion+ hours
  • Q3 2023: 15 billion+ hours
  • Q3 2024: 20 billion+ hours
  • Q2 2025: 27 billion+ hours

You can see the marked effect of the pandemic on Roblox game time. The platform only surpassed the 4 billion hour mark in Q1 2020, but received 8 billion hours of play time in Q2 2020.

Roblox Revenue Data

Roblox generates revenue mainly through the sale of its virtual currency, Robux. This in turn can be spent on items within the game.

"Robux" growth chart
“Robux” searches are up by 4000% in the last 10 years.

In its accounts, Roblox differentiates between “revenue” and “bookings”. Simply put, revenue is recognized over the estimated average lifetime of a paying user (~27 months), whereas bookings are a more immediate record of purchases made within a given period.

In Q2 2025, Roblox revenue hit $1.08 billion. That figure includes partially deferred purchases from previous quarters, but also only accounts for a fraction of the value of the most up-to-date transactions.

The bookings figure — which Roblox says provides a “timelier indication” of current trends — stands at $1.44 billion.

“Substantially all” of the bookings figure comes from sales of Robux. Here’s how Roblox revenue and bookings have changed over time:

Quarter Revenue Bookings
Q1 2021 $387 million $652.3 million
Q2 2021 $454.1 million $665.5 million
Q3 2021 $509.3 million $637.8 million
Q4 2021 $568.8 million $770.1 million
Q1 2022 $537.1 million $631.2 million

Q4 2022 $579 million $899.4 million
Q1 2023 $655.3 million $773.8 million
Q2 2023 $680.8 million $780.7 million
Q3 2023 $713.2 million $839.5 million
Q4 2023 $749.9 million $1.127 billion
Q1 2024 $801.3 million $923.8 million
Q2 2024 $893.5 million $955.2 million

Q4 2024 $988.2 million $1.362 billion
Q1 2025 $1.035 billion $1.207 billion
Q2 2025 $1.081 billion $1.438 billion

How Much Do Roblox Users Spend?

Roblox is free to use, and the majority of players are not paying users.

However, Roblox hit its highest ever number of Monthly Unique Payers (MUPs) in Q2 2025. 23.4 million users make monthly purchases, up 42% YoY.

The average spend per MUP was $20.48, a 6% YoY increase.

People who buy Robux spend an average of $20.48 per month

Average bookings per daily average user (ABPDAU) is essentially a measure of how the vast player base is translating into money spent on Robux. In Q2 2025, it increased 18% YoY in the US and Canada, and 11% in international markets.

Across all markets, ABPDAU stood at $12.86, up 7% YoY.

How Much Do Creators Make on Roblox?

Most Roblox users will not be able to use the platform as a significant source of income. However, the top creators can earn major payouts.

Any Roblox developer can charge Robux for elements within the experiences that they create. Under certain circumstances, Roblox allows users to “cash out” those Robux for real currency via a process known as the developer exchange (DevEx).

To do so, a user must have at least 30,000 earned Robux in their account (worth approximately $100). They must also be over 13, with a verified email address, and with a valid DevEx portal (an invitation is sent once a first request is submitted and reviewed).

Developers earned over $1 billion through DevEx in the past 12 months.

Roblox developers have earned $1 billion in the past 12 months

In Q2 2025, Roblox paid out $316.4 million in DevEx fees, a 52% YoY increase.
